Our six-week show at Waukegan's Jack Benny Center for the Arts will conclude with a critique following our Monday, November 21 general meeting in the center's theater, our last gathering for 2022. Professional artist Steve Puttrich will evaluate each submittal and award first, second and third ribbons. The catalog of the 22 entries is included in this newsletter, including thumbnail images of the art, but please find time to see them directly before the critique.
The Jack Benny Center is currently open 4-8:00 pm Monday-Thursday and 9-12:00 Saturday, or call 847-360-4740. for special arrangements. Its GPS address is 39 Jack Benny Dr. Waukegan, IL 60087. Jack Benny Dr. is the second entrance into the park off Sheridan Rd. north of Greenwood Ave., and the building is at the very end of this short road. Steve Puttrich, now an award-winning artist in oil and watercolor, started his studies at the American Academy of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He received degrees in architectural illustration, graphic design and fine art. Steve studied watercolor painting under the remarkable Irving Shapiro, who taught art at the Academy for almost 50 years and served as its Director and President. Steve’s work clearly shows the Shapiro influence. He currently teaches at the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Art in Chicago and the Peninsula School of art in Door County. He continues to do workshops at a variety of locations, often as plein air.
