The program at our September meeting will be a demonstration of the Zentangle Method.
Fran Isaac says “It is a way of seeing patterns in the world around us and simple ways of creating these patterns. (See some example images on the next page.)
“I had a 30-year hiatus from painting while I was raising my children and taking care of my mother, and when I finally had the time to paint, I didn’t know where to start. Fear of the blank canvas was paralyzing and it seemed that all my old painting abilities were no longer available to me. I found Zentangle by chance - I think it was a book on the library’s “new book” shelf - and it became my gateway into painting. “
There are some tenets of this method:
1) Spend a quiet moment appreciating your materials.
2) Have no expectations of the outcome.
3) Enjoy the process!
If you’d like to participate, please bring:
• a sketchbook
• some card stock or blank 3x5 or 4x6 notecards
• a #2 pencil
• a fine-line technical pen like a Micron 01
• a tortillion
